Newcastle beach and Light house

14th April 2008
Monday

On this day I had to be up and at work by 7am
I had started a new cleaning job at the hotel (pub) just down
The road from where I live
So while I was at work doing my 2 hours of cleaning
Cheryl, Albert and Susan waited patiently for me at the cabin.
I was back with then before 9am. And they were ready to spend their day sight seeing.
We left the cabin and came to my place so we could pick Amanda up,
while there I had a quick shower after making everyone coffee
And my daughter Stephanie had decided to come and spend the day with us.
We left to head off to Newcastle again for the afternoon
It took us an hour to drive there.
I took everyone to Newcastle beach then we went and got lunch and returned to the beach and ate it sitting in the van because it had started raining.
While sitting there the seagulls decided to come and hang around to see if
We had an left overs. While sitting there a car passed us on the road in front and stopped and
Opened his window and took a photo of our car, I started the laugh and
One of the girls said we must look like that movie
called the Birds,
I had finished my lunch and opened my door to chuck out my left overs
Well that started the seagulls off
They were fighting and carrying on we got a good laugh out of it.
By then everyone had finished lunch and threw the birds any left overs they had
The rain had stopped and we were finally about to get out of the van and have a look around.

The above photo is my daughter Stephanie at Newcastle beach, Just over her left shoulder is
Where that big ship beached itself
When Newcastle and the Hunter Valley was hit with
Those big storms in June 2007.

Just some of the ships that are/were waiting outside Newcastle harbour to come in and fill up with coal
Albert was counting them and I think the last number was nearly 40 ships waiting.

The above photo is of the Rotunda in King Edward park, this place is very popular with Weddings
It's not unusual to visit this place on the weekends
And see Brides waiting for their time slot to use the Rotunda
To the right of the Rotunda is the Ocean off Newcastle.

The above photo's are of the Captain Cook Memorial Fountain
It was built and officially opened in 1970 at Civic Park Newcastle

After leaving Newcastle with not much to see now because of the rain, I was going to start heading home
but the girls wanted to see my old stomping ground Toronto
This is where Grahame and I grew up as kids and where we started off our own family life.
So I took everyone out to Toronto showed them Lake Macquarie
Australia’s biggest man made salt water lake.
I showed them all where I grew up and the main street
where I used to do the shopping and we visited the Lake

Photo on the left is the swimming baths we used to swim in at the end of the main street at Toronto
I wouldn't swim there now.
The photo on the right if the Wharf, we used to fish and people dock boats there
